I don't think there is a more proven Katahdin ram for parasite resistance than "Parker". His excellent PR genetics have been proven in 3 flocks (Georgia, Virginia and New York) with over 200 progeny. His sons have sired flocks all across the country including Hawaii and Puerto Rico. We love his daughters too, they are long living, resilient, healthy, easy-keeping and maintain excellent body condition under hot and humid conditions.

Lee Wright and I purchased this high performing ram at the SWAREC Ram Test in 2024 from Randal and Rebecca Beal. New to NSIP, we took a chance on this stud ram and expect that his offspring will reflect the growth and parasite resistance he recorded while at the VT Ram test. Looking forward to seeing how his offspring perform on our farm and on Lee's in 2027.

This ram brings excellent growth, milk and prolificacy to our flock. Though our focus is always on finding rams with excellent parasite resistance, we are cognizant of the need to maintain good growth and maternal genetics to keep our ewe flock balanced. Breeding this stud to our most parasite resistant ewes has resulted in balanced offspring that perform well in our management system.

This ram was purchased at the 2025 SWAREC Ram Test sale from Shepherd's Way Farm. As a strong performer in the test, our goal was to bring in some outside genetics and a little color. Though our ewes were already bred when he arrived in Georgia, he will be breeding a few dozen yearlings in April to lamb in early Fall. Looking forward to evaluating the performance of his offspring.
